Hocus Pocus, Everybody Focus!

Help me give my students the ability to focus on their own work and not get distracted by things going on around them.

My Students

I teach in a high poverty school, but we do not fall under Title I qualifications for our state guidelines. We have the same challenges as Title I schools, but without any of the additional funding. Despite the challenges they face at home, my students come each day ready to learn and with a smile on their face. I have students who are on the Autism spectrum. I have multiple students who have emotional disorders. I also have students who have one or both parents active in the military.

The abilities in my classroom range from Pre-K to above 3rd Grade level.

I love to expose my students to things they may not have access to at home. There are a lot of apps and programs that will benefit my students in their academic success, but many do not have access to a computer and/or internet at home. I strive to give my students the best academic experience possible by letting them use and explore the technology available in the class. I also try to give them the learning skills they will need to succeed in their academic career.

My Project

By getting these privacy shields, my students will be able to focus on their own work. So many of my students get too involved in making sure their neighbors are doing what they are supposed to. They will also pay more attention to their neighbors than their own work.

My students can choose to use their privacy shields during any of their independent work times.

They always use them during testing, which helps them to be able to do their best.

The privacy shields I have now, are majorly falling apart. They having drawings, holes, and can't stay up for very long. They have become a distraction themselves. I also don't have enough for every student.
