My special students need 3 special cushions, 2 reading chairs, 5 specialized left and right handed scissors, and sensory neck wrappers.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Trinh's classroom raised $615

I teach a multi-ethnics and multi-levels classroom of 24 second graders. They love to interact with each other because they come from varies backgrounds. I have a number of children who have special needs such as autism, Asperges Syndrome, and learning disabilities.
They have focusing, sensory, and motor skills problems. It is difficult for them to pay attention because they are very fidgety and cannot stay in their seats. Instead of having them walk around and disturb others learning, they just need cushion seats with spikes to guide their focus back on me. These seats also give them the sensory feel that they crave for. Other children need to rock because they are autistic. Also some would like to have special chairs for reading. So,to meet these needs the class requires 2 rocking reading chairs to be placed in the classroom library. Can you see everyone is happy in their own reading world?
I also hope to have uniquely made scissors that make cutting an easy task for my children who have difficulty with fine motor skills. Since the metal scissors are so hard and not kids-friendly my autistic children suffer when it comes to Arts and Crafts time. Please help them love learning rather than getting discourage because of a pair of scissors.
Lastly, my sensitive children who require firm touch to calm themselves down should have a wrap around shoulder weight pad. This gives them a sense of constant firmness that providing stability and comfort.
There are many things we take for granted that special needs children have to go through. They are entitled to have an equal opportunity for learning. With proper tools they could focus and learn better and you can make such a big difference in enhancing the experience. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
