My Project
Our students love to participate in Physical Education each week. We want to offer them different types of activities and lessons they would not normally get outside of the typical school day. Floor Hockey is a great way for our students to learn how to properly hold a hockey stick, strike a ball with the blade of the hockey stick and think of others safety while playing. Floor Hockey is a unique activity for them to play! They love it when the walk in the gym and see the container full of hockey sticks! They immediately know the week is going to be fun during PE. The 30" DOM Supersafe Hockey set is perfect for our students. The blade is soft to keep our students from getting hurt and the shorter sticks can be used by all of our students!
During Floor Hockey, we have found out we do not have enough hockey sticks for every student to participate during skill activities.
We start our lessons with basic fundamentals of how to hold the hockey stick correctly and safely so others don't get hurt. From there, we have them participate in dribbling and passing skill lessons so they are comfortable with the hockey stick in their hands and we, their teachers, can check what they have learned and are holding the hockey stick properly and keeping the blade low to the ground.
Our goal for our students is to be safe. We also want them to learn the basic skills and game rules of Floor Hockey so we can play short games with them during PE. We work on shooting goals, passing to others and working on their knowledge of offense and defense.
