My Students
My students LOVE listening to stories. Whether listening to stories being read or reading stories themselves, my students are completely engaged and joyful when sitting down with a good book.
My students attend a charter school in the inner-city.
They are incredibly enthusiastic to learn and their enthusiasm never wanes. They are excited about growing their brains and getting ready for first grade, but even more determined to become respectful and loving students who are the change in their community.
My Project
My students love interacting with books and one way to do that is by listening to books on CD while reading along. As the students listen to books being read, they are able to improve their fluency, heighten their comprehension, and expand their vocabulary. Children's reading behaviors are at their peak when they are interacting with books that they are familiar with. By making these resources available in the classroom, my students will be able to engage with texts that make them excited about learning while they improve their reading skills.
