My Students
My very young students have a variety of interests, experiences, as well as different levels of prior knowledge and skill. In addition to being in a military town, we are an elementary school with a high level of poverty.
Any donations that I receive will be used exclusively for my classroom.
I would greatly appreciate any amount, as it will reduce the amount of money I must spend from my own finances to supply items to my students, as well as give me the opportunity to buy new items for the classroom.
My Project
My eager and excited Kindergarteners love to learn, love to do new things, and our reading, writing and math centers desperately need to be freshened up with some new supplies. I have asked for donations that would liven up our word work and writing centers to help me keep my young students learning and engaged in our 90 minute literacy block. I have also asked for reading comprehension activities that I could use with them at the "Read with Teacher" center. Regarding math, this past January I taught my students addition and subtraction for the first time; the students desperately need to continue practicing their addition and subtraction facts for the rest of the year. The learning games I have asked for will help them do that.
Lastly, I have asked for several books to be added to our class library that I can use as read alouds: Wonder and a collection of books that address the special abilities of some children.
I often share the importance of accepting everyone; regardless of ability or disability, so I was excited to see books that addressed this important topic.
