This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My library is in a public inner-city school. The students come from low-income homes and 100% receive a free lunch. Students in my school come from culturally diverse backgrounds and depend on the school library to offer them books that are diverse, current, and up-to-date. My students enjoy the books I can provide them on a weekly basis because the public library is far away and because they don't have money to buy books. Many of my students are very appreciative when I can put new books in the library and are excited to check them out for the first time. I often hear "Thank you," or get a hug.

My Project

Many students enjoy reading sportsbooks. In each book, in this series, the history of the Major League Baseball team is explored. Memorable wins, star players, important coaches, and team stats are also discussed. Students who love baseball will love reading about their favorite teams in Major League Baseball.

Nonfiction reading is not only important for reading for information but many students like reading nonfiction for entertainment.

Sportsbooks fall into that category. It is important to provide students with nonfiction books for leisure reading too.

This project will provide sets for two elementary schools.
