Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work in a Title One school where resources are very limited and offering students an equal education is very hard. I have more than 300 students whom I see two to three times a week.
Last year, Pre-K to 2nd grade students were able to learn all about themselves.
With your well appreciated donations, students came a long way, from learning how to hold a pencil to doing portraits, fruit collage, cityscape sculptures and many other projects.
My Project
This year the students are eager to learn about worldwide history through art, but once again, the resources are very limited and I am in a desperate need of your help. I would like them to be able to make paintings and more hands-on activities, such as weaving and ceramic vases, animal sculpture and design jewelry. My students need tempera paint to add color and details to Chinese vases, clay to create Greek vases, paper mâché to make masks, and needles to weave baskets, plus sculpture wire.
Your donations will help my students tremendously; they will learn how ancient people used to create their artwork.
The students will be able to understand and make connections of why people create art. They will be able to differentiate decorative art from art that is use in our daily life. Furthermore, most of my students do not travel outside their community; learning about many cultures will expose them to different countries and this will expand their cultural knowledge.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
