FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. M.'s classroom raised $710
This project is fully funded
I am trying to integrate more projects into my classroom. I would like to assist my students in history becoming alive by providing them historical non-fiction and fiction books to read. They would then write an essay and conduct an oral book report. This would encourage others to read the books their peers discuss. I would have a rubric that would grade the report and separate rubric for the essay.
Our students must write across the curriculum in order to prepare for their state testing. We do not have a school library so it is heard to assign a book report. These students are in a low social economic environment (80 percent of our students are on the free lunch program) and their parents are working to put a roof over their heads so they ride the bus home to an empty home and no transportation to the library.
I have a computer for the students use but I need to purchase a printer so they can print out their essay. The cost of the printer would be around fifty dollars. I would like to spend four hundred in funding a class library.
I believe history comes alive in the story telling of the people that experienced that era. I am trying to integrate historical fiction and non fiction that will peak their interest in this content area. I will then follow through with expression in written form to encourage their growth in writing skills and an oral presentation with a visual to let them share the knowledge obtained and encourages others.
I would like to thank you for your consideration.
