My Students

My students are amazing and the reason I love my job. I hear so many people express concern and negative stereotypes about the youth of today, but I can testify that they are amazing people who work very hard. For example, I have several students this year who are dealing with chronic pain and illness. These students are always communicating with me, and despite having to miss class at times always stays up with what they need to. I also have another student who's brother has brain cancer but she is working hard to maintain her 4.0. Lastly, another student has just barely passed my class the last two quarters, but has made it his personal goal to rise to his capabilities and get at least a B in the upcoming one. He is already changing his habits and participating more in class- all it took was a real conversation with him.

Overall, with this grant, I would be able to get materials for my room that make my class even more engaging.

I love my students so much, and I really think this grant could open up more ways to improve learning.

My Project

I really want to help history come to life. For example, the VR goggles will be used to take students on virtual field trips to New York, Europe, The Soviet Union, etc. The upfront magazines will introduce a variety of topics and perspectives to apply historical discussions to current events.

It will bring history to life in the classroom.

Students will engage in creative work and out-of-the-box lesson plans. I want students to walk in each day with the question, "What are we doing today?" because there is variety day to day. These materials will allow me more flexibility in my lesson planning.
