My Students
I have the pleasure of teaching over one hundred 7th graders. These students are located from all over the New York City area. These students are some of the most hardworking and dedicated people I know. Many of them have huge aspirations to change the world. My students are a part of the New York City’s SOAR through reading program for gifted and talented students. These children come to school everyday with the biggest smiles on their faces and are always ready to learn.
My Project
This learning easel will enable my students to close read primary and secondary sources. Students will incorporate these techniques, which will help them corroborate central ideas, identify and describe themes, and analyze historical contexts. This easel will provide my students support by having a place to locate models for close reading through anchor charts and close reading symbols. In addition, the easel will provide my students a space to showcase their understanding of historical context through primary and secondary sources. It will do this by giving them a white board area to collaborate with peers and create an open environment to seek answers to the essential questions of the unit.
