My Students
This upcoming school year, I am taking on a new challenge. I will have the privilege of working with students of all grades in small groups to enhance their math skills. The wonderful students at my school make up the most wonderful 5th graders located in South Philadelphia. Our school is a very diverse school where 40% of our school population are English language learners, and there are 15 different languages spoken at our school. Our school has a strong community that works endlessly for the benefit of our terrific students. Everyone from the principal, staff, 500 students, and their parents work together each day.
My Project
Bob Dylan once said that " A hero is someone who understands the responsibility that comes with his freedom." By having my students learn about Historical Figures in Social Studies class, my goal is for them to see that they too can be a hero. Using the "Who Was" series, students will be able to learn about historical figures in a more captivating way than they would using old, outdated text books.
Using the "Who Was.."books, students will learn incredible stories and fascinating facts about those who have shaped and continue to shape our history.
These short chapter books, include facts, stories and fun drawings that grab the attention of young readers and is written at a reading level that they can understand.
Help my 5th graders become more engaged in history so that one day, they themselves can make history!
