This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Yesterday in our staff meeting we brainstormed how to support student understanding of the myriad dates, events, people, wars, revolutions and more in Global History. So, I decided that a wonderful project that would get the kiddos outside in fresh air, allow for creativity, and support their understanding of different time-periods and chronologies would be to create Historical Hopscotch.
The kiddos will head outside to the sidewalks surrounding our building and create blocks of history that represent the time-periods that we have studied in Global III and IV.
We started with African Kingdoms and the Protestant Reformation and we will end with the Cold War and globalization.
I am excited to see what our scholars can create through this process. We will pick from a hat to determine who gets what time-period and topic. Then, we will use the large Post-It notes as our rough draft. We will then move outside to create our Historical Hopscotch masterpieces. We will use the fun dice to move along our historical boards. Thank you so very much for supporting this mini-grant and supporting the future of American during this time.
