Historical Fiction & Nonfiction Collection

Help me give my students a window into history! I have searched and put together a collection of historical fiction texts, so my students can connect with history.

My Project

In 6th grade, it is challenging to relate to a time period that happened so long ago. By having historical fiction and nonfiction texts at arms reach, such as "I Survive" graphic novels, "The Davenports" and "Who was?" kids can be transported to a different time period. It is hard for 6th graders to imagine a time without a computer, a cell phone, immediate contact with their friends, entertaining videos, and the answers to just about anything, in the palm of their hand. Reading about people and events from the past, makes students aware of what has shaped our world today.
