Do you remember learning about historical events for the first time?
My fourth grade class has 32 students of mixed ability.
Many of my students are English as a Second Language learners and do not speak English at home. The students in my school receive free breakfast and lunch. My students are eager to learn new things and explore history.
My Project
My students will be learning about United States history during social studies this year. By adding non-fiction books to our classroom library related to the topics we will be studying, it allows my students to explore historical topics in further detail. This also builds independence by allowing my students to select books related to topics that are of interest to them and research these areas of interest in more detail. It is essential that we have books that are the right level, so they are able to be read with ease and do not frustrate.
These books will help to build a love of reading and history in my classroom.
Please help to develop our social studies library so that my students can become historians. Historical knowledge will help my students to understand the world around them.
