Historians At Work

My Students

Students in my class are unfailingly kind. I have never seen a more positively caring group! They love helping others and making sure everyone has a great day at school. It is a regular sight to see students giving each other compliments and “Shout Outs,” filling our Acts of Kindness jar with marbles, and being a good friend to those around the school as a part of Hope Squad, a school-wide club dedicated to spreading kindness.

Because of their unwavering positivity and courage to always choose kindness, each of my students deserves a standing ovation for the work that they do each day in making the world a better place. They are truly inspiring.

My Project

I have requested several of the books in the "Who Is/Was" series as they are fun, engaging, and exciting! Every student loves these books - with a variety of enticing illustrated covers, they all make it their goal to read all of them. Ranging in Lexile level, these books reach all levels of readers making their reading goals realistic and challenging in ways that present themselves naturally.

With over 200 exciting titles available in the series to showcase historical icons, our classroom has become a space for all to explore history and social studies with excitement and awe of people that have come before us.

As students interact with these books, they revel in sharing what they have learned through essays, skits, drawings, and dress-up days. These books find themselves into many lessons in our every day plans - writing, book clubs, science, and even math become richer as we have the best examples of historical figures to follow. In helping to fund this project, you are allowing the continuation of the joy that my students have found in experiencing history to happen. We thank you for your kindness to help out our classroom.
