Hip, Hip Hurray! Acing Remote Learning All The Way!

Help me give my students an Apple Pencil to make my teaching, and my students’ learning more effective and engaging in a remote experience.

My Students

Carpe diem! These are the words that greet my students daily as they enter our classroom. I aim to create an environment filled with creativity, educational challenges, happiness, and self-awareness. Every day, my students rise to the challenge and truly seize the day!

My students attend a Title I public school in New York City where nearly all students come from low-income households.

My students are a diverse group of intellectually gifted fourth graders. Their interests are unique and varied, yet they share the trait of innate inquisitiveness. Our classroom is a place of discovery and inquiry. We strive to tap into our higher-order thinking skills on a daily basis, pushing ourselves to explore and think deeply.

My Project

This will be a school year unlike any other. My students will be participating in remote learning, and we need some supplies to ensure that my lessons are dynamic and engaging for my wonderful students.

The Apple Pencil will allow me to make the learning experience for my students that much more dynamic.

I tapped into a lot of different aids to promote engagement and enthusiasm from my students in the spring while learning remotely. From technology to me using various props from around my house, I found creativity to be key! The addition of this Apple Pencil will add another important tool to my teaching ‘arsenal.’ It will allow me to work in a much clearer fashion for my students to see. I will use it via Google Classroom and Zoom. While I am teaching, the students will be able to clearly see me work on math problems via my iPad. I will also use it in various ways and across the curriculum to write ideas and show examples. The pencil, along with the USB hub, will allow me to grab my students’ attention and make our remote learning more dynamic. If we had our way we would be back in the classroom, but these tools will allow me to replicate the experience as much as possible for my lovely students!
