My Students

I believe every child deserves the opportunity for an excellent education, and I am proud to partner with my school, other educators, families, and community leaders to strive toward this goal. I teach in a high poverty school where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. These amazing students need additional support because most of them come from low-income single family households of which many have little to no support or resources. Despite some of the challenges they face in and around their environment, every year my students come to school excited, full of life, and eager to learn.

As the 2016 and 2019 Teacher of the Year as well as an alumni of Metro Atlanta Teach for America, I choose to continue to significantly impact the life trajectories of students in our region’s high-need communities.

My Project

I am requesting Grab & Play Social Studies Games that will provide hands-on social studies resources for centers and small group learning. We use a social studies book, that is mostly worksheets and we research the internet for a lot of our social studies lessons. As my students play the fun skill-building games, they explore everything from U.S. history and geography to land forms and symbols on a map!

I would love to receive these resources to make social studies more memorable and exciting.

These social studies centers and resources will help my students to learn the ways of the world, and the history of it! My students are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. With the proper materials I believe each child can come to love learning all about social studies!
