Highlighters are a key tool in helping students access their learning. Especially in the 9th grade, using a highlighter to annotate texts helps students to better understand what they are reading and can help them with their analysis skills. In government class students need to read older and more complex texts and highlighters can help make these texts easier to access. This also helps students develop skills that they can take beyond just this class.
Students will need annotating and reading skills for the rest of their lives, in school and beyond.
