it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The opportunity for our students to collect weather information, take this information, and create a weather section for our morning school broadcast can inspire students from K-5 in using their math science skills.
We are a school of need.
Our school is a Title 1 school with almost 100% free and reduced lunch. We constantly try to create experiences at school that can help students see beyond their own home life and life's daily challenges. We are approximately 75% African-American, 10% white, 12% Hispanic, and 3% other. Many of our students welcome academic challenges and will rise to a higher level of achievement when the opportunity is presented.
My Project
These weather collecting devices will help our students in math and science skills. More than that, our students will create a morning weather show to compliment the morning school news report which is broadcast every morning throughout the school. Future weather forecasters and scientist can be created here using this equipment. All of our grade levels will experience the science of weather collecting data and actually use that data in a morning broadcast.
Our students need opportunity.
The latest scientific equipment will provide our students the chance to compete now and in the future. This equipment will used by many students for many years. Our kids just need a chance!
