My Project

The students in my school are majority "at risk" students trying to graduate from high school. Most of our students are also working to provide financial assistance to their families. Since COVID19 our students have increasingly reported high levels of stress and anxiety along with a lack of overall social emotional skills to help them cope with everyday challenges. This school based yoga studio will allow students to learn about and participate in trauma informed yoga as well as give them an opportunity to be present for themselves while implementing social emotional strategies through monthly themes. They will have the opportunity to increase their overall movement bi-weekly and earn an elective credit. Studies have shown us that movement and learning go hand in hand so these items will allow students alternative learning opportunities.
