My Students
Despite the challenges of teaching in an urban Title I school district, my students are incredibly unwilling to let any obstacle stand in their way. My students persevere better than anyone else I have ever met.
With the struggles of diversity and struggles of not being on grade level, we have yet to put a damper on our education.
I have recently looped with my students in order to have a second year to help them either become more advanced or to catch them up to grade level. It is often that my students ask for time for tutoring or extra help. I am blessed to have such amazing students who want to put their work into their own education.
My Project
One of the biggest difficulties of going to high school, is not only fitting in but also having adequate supplies to survive as well. Many of my students struggle to obtain supplies for school. This year they are going to be graduating from 8th grade. My goal is to give each student a High School Survival Kit.
A High School Survival Kit can help a student spend less time stressing over if they have enough materials to succeed high school, and given them more time to actually focus on learning and having fun.
Students will benefit by not having to stress over supplies for high school. They can use more of their time enjoying just being a student and doing what needs to be done for their education.
