This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My high school English electives are where creativity flourishes and ideas ignite! I teach a diverse group of 9th-12th graders who are passionate about exploring literature, honing their writing skills, and engaging in dynamic discussions. Our classroom is a hub for group projects, active learning, and fostering a love for language. We delve into everything from creative writing to film studies and drama, and these courses thrive on student collaboration and individual expression.

While our current classroom setup is functional, it's often a barrier to the kind of dynamic and student-centered learning I strive to create.

Traditional desks and chairs, while necessary at times, can feel restrictive for group work, limit movement, and sometimes even hinder deep engagement. Students are often confined to one spot, which isn't ideal for brainstorming sessions, peer feedback, or the casual, comfortable atmosphere that encourages open dialogue and creative thinking.

The Solution: Flexible Seating!

I'm requesting a selection of flexible seating options to transform our classroom into a more adaptable, comfortable, and ultimately, more effective learning environment. These items will allow students to choose seating that best suits their learning style and the task at hand, promoting increased engagement, comfort, and collaboration.
