My art students were definitely impacted during distance learning as they did not have much access to art supplies. At my last school, I had a 3D printer and during Covid students would email me STL files and I would print them. Then, they could come pick their creations up. It was a great way to create art if all a student had was a computer. Now I am at a new school, and teach art to high schoolers. I thought to ask for a 3D printer since it was such a great way for technically minded students to get involved. Creating art is such a therapeutic action, and many former students told me making art was helping them cope with the pandemic. I would like to provide this opportunity to my students at my new school. Even though we are not distance learning now, students need art to cope with social emotional issues and process their feelings. 3D printing is a great alternative to those who aren't engaged with traditional art materials. We are especially excited to 3D print our own art tools!
