Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students use headphones daily to support their learning both in their native language and English. They listen to audiobooks or educational videos that support reading and writing material in class in both languages. Students also use programs like Duolingo and Rosetta Stone to support the work they are doing in class to learn English. These are specifically helpful in improving their speaking skills as they are able to practice listening and repeating supporting their pronunciation skills. This also allows them to start practicing their own personal conversations independently. Lastly, I have students with special disabilities who benefit from resources like text-to-speech or being able to answer questions verbally. Something as simple as a good pair of headphones allows students to have a better quality education and learn to work more independently.
