High need/trauma kindergarten need play therapy materials. A
My students need play material for dramatic play, including a dress-up center, bug collection, farm animals, tea party set, cash register, ribbons, and a walking rope.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a high poverty high need population in northern California. Our school has no extra funds, we are without many things. Kindergarten is a time to explore and realize who you are who you would want to be and to feel safe. Unfortunately, almost 70% or more of my students are without many basic needs, and have gone through a traumatic experience, already. It breaks my heart, and at times I excuse myself and try to hold in the tears. As a teacher there is so much I can do, and there is not. These children are so thankful, so wonderful and all they need is someone to believe in them. My school will run out of basic supplies in February, so these proposals come from a great need, as we do not even have a PTA at our school for "extra funding".
Therapeutic Play can serve in individual growth purposes.
In childhood, therapeutic play serves both social and personal function. Children who have had traumatic experiences can work out their demos encountered by their childhood experience as well as many challenges and anticipations of the future. I have seen immigrant students some from the poorest countries work out their new surrounding through play. Through the power of play, these students will gain sharing passions, work out problems perhaps they can never share. Almost half of my class alone has been abandoned in foster homes, and worse. I am asking for these play materials to help create a Dramatic play area where my students can feel safe.
My Project
I know this is not "core academics", but to these children, these materials and play items, will create a fantasy world where for 40 minutes each day they can dress up, play house and be the kindergarteners, they are supposed to be. As a mother, I am astounded at their resilient nature and how in their short five years they have come to be so powerful. Please help what you can knowing for years to come these play items will go through many years and help so many children in need.
I want to thank you for your donation no matter how small, you make a difference.
These materials will go a very long way and help children with many issues of abandonedment. THE POWER OF PLAY helps a child in so many ways relating directly to their academic performance. Please do what you can , and believe your powerful donation will make a difference in a child's life. With love and Peace.
