My Students
Unfortunately, we have a theft problem. Two Dell computers have been stolen from our school and we desperately need computers to complete our college-ready work at our high needs high school.
Our school is a high poverty, high needs school with a 20% special education population that needs help.
As a transfer high school, students interview at our school for a new change and an opportunity to graduate high school and be prepared for college. Without enough computers for this, our mission is against us. Students apply to come to our school for a change and we want to show them that an act of malice cannot deter them from going to college, which is our school's main goal. We have been known to have an 87% graduation rate and aim to meet or exceed that statistic every year. Without the proper technology, we run the risk of not providing students with the resources in order to achieve that collegiate goal. Our graduates have gone off to college, and always return with tales of how much we prepared them with college applications, college essays, and super writing skills that have guaranteed success in their freshman English class.
My Project
Currently, without these computers, we have more students than computers in a classroom and study hall. Given that we try to incorporate technology in all of our lessons, most of our courses are grounded in word processing, Internet research and Google docs. Without this computer, there is always one student who has to share his or her resources and isn't able to complete as many college applications or complete a major writing assignment in time. Having more resources will allow students the ability to learn more and be provided with individualized care.
This donation will make a huge difference!
Our school is waived from state exams and instead, students must complete thesis papers in Math, Science, English and Social Studies in order to graduate. This means that in every class, students are using computers and need computers to be able to complete thesis papers in every subject. We know that you all want our kids to be college ready and so do we! We know that your contribution will promote college paper writing and we thank you in advance!
