My students need a laptop for an applied science classroom using labs, e-books and projects. Since the world is changing through technology, and my students know more about computer education than plain old lecturing and taking notes, a laptop is perfect!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in an urban district, every child receiving free lunch due to high poverty. With a huge financial deficit, it makes it impossible to buy supplies directly through our school system. Many have learning disabilities yet benefit from technology making it easier to differentiate work.
My students are smart and ready to learn, however most of them do not have technology such as computers, tablets, net books at home, so I am trying to make the classroom more interactive to prepare them for a changing world through science.
The kids love to design PowerPoint presentations after creating physics and chemistry experiments and present them to the class on our projector. Throughout my teaching career, I've noticed that the children raise their scores on testing when they are able to apply their knowledge using computers.
My Project
This computer will help with expansion of time and space in the classroom for one reason, allowing more time for collaboration, instruction, and depth of understanding through quick research. This will also lower the cost of paper supply, thus help with saving our environment on wasted paper and less recycling since I will be able to save their work to DVDs, flash drives and other devices. Every year we have a huge district science fair and having this resource to use in the class will save on time, space and paper. All of their lab reports can be typed, saved and read using this laptop. Every activity we engage in can be more efficiently done using a laptop.
My students need a laptop in the classroom because the world is changing through technology and a laptop will help to create an interactive environment and save paper.
Having access to more technology will ready the children for the real world.
