My Project

My students are truly extraordinary. They are part of a low-incidence program and face a range of challenges, including autism, Down syndrome, and intellectual disabilities. Some rely on communication devices to participate in class, but that doesn’t stop them from being eager and enthusiastic learners. When I told them they would be making their movie, their excitement was infectious—their faces lit up with joy! My students are curious, creative, and ready to rock and roll. They are living proof that all students, no matter their abilities, can learn and thrive when given the right opportunities.

My primary goal is to inspire and nurture my students' creativity by teaching them the fundamentals of storytelling and filmmaking.

I want to provide them with meaningful opportunities to express their unique perspectives, improve their communication skills, and learn how movies come to life. Ultimately, I aim to create a project that showcases their incredible abilities and proves that students with severe needs can achieve greatness with the right tools and resources.

The digital cameras coupled with movie-making books, equipment, and color printers will vividly provide my students with hands-on tools to explore the world of filmmaking. For students with disabilities, tactile and experiential learning is essential in building new skills and fostering creativity. These cameras and other resources will empower my students to actively participate in storytelling in the classroom and at home, giving them a sense of independence and pride in their work. By exploring film techniques through their lenses, they’ll gain a deeper understanding of the filmmaking process and improve their ability to express themselves. ALL STUDENTS CAN LEARN and CREATE!
