My Students

Our school serves students from transitional kindergarten through 5th grade. The student body includes about 450 students altogether. The student body is widely diverse and 55% of students come from low-income families. Our school is a Title l school.

Our class includes 26 fabulous 5th grade learners.

Our classroom setting includes students with different interests, experiences, learning styles and needs.

We strive to create a comfortable school environment in which students look forward to coming each day to develop their academic and social skills.

My Project

Setting up a new classroom includes ensuring the library has a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction books that will appeal to the interests of all learners. Connecting readers to books that are engaging to them is the best way to spark a love of reading and foster a community in which students look forward to immersing themselves in the worlds and experiences of others, whether real or imaginary.

This project strives to add to our classroom library high-interest topics topics such as coding, inventions, and dinosaurs, that are sure to pique curiosity and engage readers over the course of the school year.

The Scholastic News subscription will provide each student with 24 issues of this timely and socially responsible magazine to engage in thoughtful conversations while practicing important non-fiction reading skills.
