My Project
After the success of our banned books mini-unit, some students have been asking for more titles to read. I've had a few specific requests for Angie Thomas' The Hate U Give, so I wanted to add it to my library. At the same time, we're beginning to read To Kill a Mockingbird and I know that many students struggle with this novel.
Given student excitement about graphic novels, I want to provide some of my most reluctant readers with an access point to To Kill a Mockingbird through this medium.
In the past, it has helped my reluctant readers be able to better understand the novel when they can see pictures to help them begin the important process of visualizing what they are reading.
