Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My juniors and seniors are struggling readers who have made it through most of their educational experience trying harder than their non-disabled peers to accomplish their educational goals.
It is difficult to find books that are both high interest for their age and maturity, while still being low enough for them to decode and comprehend.
The Divergent series is able to give them action and adventure, a reading level they can understand, and themes that we can connect to their real lives and the world. For students who struggle to read, helping them find their love of reading can be more challenging, but this series will move us in the right direction.
