My Students
As the School Counselor in an Elementary I strive to create a positive peer culture of unity and respect. I do this by giving every student a voice while offering neutrality and unconditional positive regard.
Building meaningful relationships of trust is what I strive for.
This is accomplished when the students feel supported and safe. When I take time to establish relationships with every student at my school those who need me are more likely to reach out for help.
My Project
I want to greet every student and stakeholder with a High Five, To track this I want to create a High Five Counter.
This High Five Counter will be Incredible.
It would be a vest that I wear with a LCD on the front. I would also have gloves with an accelerometer and the brains of the unit would be an Arduino/Teensy unit.
I have found a programmer to write up the code for me, now I need to purchase the supplies. I would use it mainly at the beginning and end of the school day. I will greet kids as they come into the school and when they leave. I would also use it while I give classroom presentations and school assemblies. its a fun way to engage kids and to help them feel welcome.
