My students need 4 iPads to enrich their technological experiences and 4 protective cases to keep the iPads safe.

My Students

Technology is all around us, except for in our classroom. Our laptops are outdated, most of them no longer work, and the ones that do work, no longer hold a charge. My students are eager to experience what technology has to offer.

My students attend a community public charter school that is very supported by it's community members.

The majority of my students come from impoverished homes. About 67% of our school population receives free or reduced lunch. Many of my students do not have a family computer or Internet in their homes. The only interaction they have with technology is in the classroom and I want to give them every opportunity to be exposed to all the technological advances have to offer.

My Project

As I mentioned before...There's an app for that! It is amazing how many applications have been created to foster student learning. iPad is transforming the way we teach and learn. Powerful creative tools, interactive textbooks, and a universe of apps and content make for endless learning possibilities. I currently have a large population of students with special needs that can benefit from differentiated instruction via the iPad. My students can read at their "just right level" with iBooks, FaceTime with their pen pals, access math and reading games to reinforce concepts discussed in class, explore math at their own pace with Khan Academy, become class historians with the front and rear facing cameras, record and listen to their own reading, create digital portfolios with Three Ring, and stay on track with the Common Core Standards app. I could go on, but I would run out of characters. I want to show the students what the future has in store for them. Their future is technology!
