My Students
My students are brilliant, kindhearted, ambitious dreamers. They never give up and our classroom motto is "YET". They can't do it...yet. They haven't learned it...yet. They strive for excellence. It is impressive given any student especially their age, but it is also worth noting that these students attend a Title One school. The school has a very high number of students receiving free lunch and breakfast and most of them live below the poverty line. Their school is also considered a FOCUS school due to low test scores and a lack of parental involvement as a whole. Any average person could make predetermined judgments about these students, but you would honestly have to meet them to believe them! They have so much spunk, motivation, talent, humor, drive, and skill that I am in awe daily! They deserve THE WORLD!
My Project
Our class would LOVE an echo dot complete with Alexa software for so many reasons. I'm sure you have seen the commercials where the people say, "Hey Alexa..." and spit out a command. We want to use this in an educational setting. Since there is only one teacher, this would work almost as a teacher assistant, fielding questions from students that just need brief answers. Alexa can solve math problems, tell students how to spell words, tell students facts about a subject, give geography resources, flip coins for decision making, tell stories, play music, tell the weather and more! The possibilities are endless and with two echo dots students can use them for different things at the same time!
