My Project
Our elementary school library is a place where students discover the power of stories, and I want to ensure that every child has access to books that reflect diverse voices and experiences. That’s why I are seeking to expand our collection with books that celebrate Black history, culture, and contributions.
These books will provide my students with opportunities to learn about influential Black leaders, historical events, and inspiring stories that have shaped our world.
By seeing themselves and others represented in literature, my students will develop a stronger sense of identity, empathy, and appreciation for different perspectives. These books will also support our CharacterStrong program, reinforcing values like kindness, resilience, and respect.
My goal is to create a library where all students feel seen, valued, and inspired. I want to empower them with knowledge, help them build a deeper understanding of history, and encourage them to become changemakers in their own communities.
My students are incredibly special—they are curious, eager to learn, and full of potential, despite facing significant challenges. Nearly all of them come from low-income backgrounds, but they approach each day with resilience and a determination to grow. These books will not only enrich their education but also give them the inspiration and confidence to dream big and make a difference.
Thank you for helping me bring these important stories into our library and into the hearts of my students!
