This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I love my students enthusiasm for learning. I love the school family we have built over the years and continue to expand upon. Most of all I love coming to school each day and working with the kids in the pursuit of excellence.
I teach at a Title I school in Tampa where over 90% of students are on the free lunch program.
Most of our student population is Hispanic/Latino, and our families typically have multiple students. Since many of my students are still new to the English language, they are mostly visual learners and need more exposure to vocabulary.
My students want to learn. My families want the best education for their children. I want to allow my students the same opportunities, while still accommodating their different needs and preparing them for the ever-changing 21st Century jobs they will have.
My Project
Now that times are different, students have to keep a distance from each other which can make recess and PE less enjoyable. Shared equipment is no longer allowed and walking or running on the track is not for everyone.
I want to make an activity path that all students can use to practice gross motor movements while keeping a safe distance from each other.
It would provide a structured environment for students to be "with" friends and enjoy their outside time. It also helps the teachers to have purposeful play from Kindergarten all the way through fifth grade.
