This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Throughout the school year, the students always run out of facial tissues and paper towels which are essential in the classroom. Due to budget cuts the school cannot supply as much as before and we have been requesting from the school community and families. However, given that I work in a high needs poverty-stricken community where families cannot afford to bring in supplies.
I wanted to make sure that, as the school year starts, the supplies that are most needed are already in the classroom and ready for use.
The bins will be used to store the materials where they can be seen easily and efficiently accessed.
During the year, of course, students get sick and sniffly and need to have facial tissues to wipe their noses. An endless supply would be ideal, however, I am requesting enough to start of the year and will purchase as needed as the year progresses. The paper towels, also a necessity, are used up very quickly when we have specific projects or are engaged in using our Dojo prizes to have a celebration.
These basic items will help to improve the function of the classroom and ensure that the students have the materials they need to start off the school year.
