This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
At The William Lynch School, our goal is for all of our students to be proficient readers. The best way for students to be able to achieve the goal of reading on level is for students to have high-interest books available to them on their reading level. Through having sets of books available, students can engage in book clubs, where they read, question, and discuss events from the text.
These Henry and Mudge books will help a diverse group of ESL students in our school to become proficient readers.
The Henry and Mudge books are all on level J (Fountas &Pinnel). When students become ready to read on-level J they will have these high-interest books available to read and help them level up to the next level. As students get to know the characters, Henry & Mudge, as they read each book, they can focus on understanding story structure, character traits, and other high level skills they will need to excel in reading.
