In the light of recent tragic events, my students bring about hope for a better future. While they hail from all over the globe, speak a multitude of different languages, and come from a wide array of economic situations, they work together in unity. Through playing in a band together, they learn the values of teamwork, tolerance, understanding, and loyalty. We see our wonderful diversity as an asset and a strength. I can only hope that they can carry this notion of setting aside differences to achieve unity into the future.

My Project
Have you ever picked up a 6th grader's book bag? As a teacher and a mom I am amazed with the size and weight of the bags that students are expected to carry to and from school. Now imagine adding the weight of a heavy metallic instrument in a large case. With the majority of our students relying on public transportation to get to and from school, taking home a euphonium to practice is impossible for some of our youngest students.
The euphonium adds a rich, warm and velvety sound to the band.
It is a popular instrument choice in our school, but due to its size and weight many of our students are unable to bring the instrument home. Several small and determined middle school students would love to have a light-weigh plastic euphonium to bring home. Thank you for supporting my amazing band students!
