Helping Within Our Community

Help me give my students a sense of being a source of good in the community by providing the homeless with some essentials for the warmer months.

My Project

My advisory students put care packages together for the homeless during the winter and felt like they had done something good in the world. They are learning that the issue of people in need doesn't go away with the Christmas holidays. They are learning about some of the challenges that people who live on the street have during the hot summer months also.

My students have been learning about what it means to be kind!

Many of my students enjoy reading the Warrior books (one of which is included in this project) and I want them to see themselves as warriors in life. The majority of my students have autism which presents many challenges for them each day. I want them to understand that like their favorite characters they too are warriors and they can reach out to the community once again and create care packages that might help others during the summer months. This project includes sunscreen, baseball caps, sunglasses, raincoats and hand sanitizers. I would be so grateful if you could help fulfill this project so that my students can experience what it means to set time aside and help others.
