Helping the Hearing Impaired children in NYC

My Students

My students love the support I give them. I help them feel unique and special and fit in with their peers and not feel different. Being hearing impaired can make a child lose self-esteem and get frustrated. I make sure their hearing aids and FM Systems (assisted listening devices) are working to their optimal level. I work together with them in and out of the classroom. We discuss many things about hearing impairment and how it affects their lives and how they can achieve the highest levels and all the goals they set.

My Project

With the use of a laptop computer and scanner, I can program hearing aids and FM units for children as well as work with them pulling up many types of resources online. I work with students in general populations as well as Special Education that range in age from 5 years old to 21 years old. I teach them all about their hearing impairment and skills to help them in school and at home. We work together as a team, being able to communicate and understand language efficiently. All children need self-confidence and they can go anywhere and do anything with their lives. With the use of a laptop, I can be in constant communication with my students and their families through Zoom or Google Meets to help them grow and reach all of the goals that are set for them.
