Helping Students Through Hands on Scientific Inquiry
My students need 40 preserved pigs so they can properly investigate the anatomy of mammals.

My Students
Many people believe that the best way to learn is through hands on experiences. Just like riding a bike or learning how to swim, you cannot truly understand science unless you interact with it. My students need to have first hand experiences with science materials to become scientific thinkers.
I am a teacher in an urban school in Missouri.
My students are studying 12th grade Anatomy and Physiology. Many of these students have never engaged in dissections of real animal specimens. Because of this, they have a vast array of misconceptions about how their own bodies work.
My Project
I am requesting 40 pig specimens for my students to dissect. These materials will allow my students to investigate the anatomy of living organisms, applying information learned in class to real life scenarios. Through first hand experiences, students will be able to form a lasting understanding of the various organ systems of the human body. The knowledge the students gain through dissections will then be applied to lessons on nutrition, diseases, and healthy living habits. My goal is to debunk many of the pre-conceptions students have about how our bodies work, while promoting healthy lifestyle alternatives.
Your donations will go directly towards giving my students a quality education.
Furthermore, it will promote healthy living habits in students while giving them an equal opportunity to succeed in college and beyond.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
