My Students

My students are special because I get to spend a whole year with them. I teach in a Title I school where All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students come from diverse backgrounds. Many of them have learning differences and are raised by someone other than their parents.

My students are great givers and have many talents.

They are caring and kind. They have big hearts and are eager to help others beside themselves. They love to work neatly and strive to achieve class goals. For many of them, our classroom is a secure, routine and safe environment. Many of their home lives are not typical.

I have the best job. I get to work with 30 wonderful kids every day. Many of them are generational students in our school and in my class. I strive to teach my students to be good citizens. I want them to be kind and empathetic people as they grow up. They come to school every day eager to contribute to our community everyday.

My Project

The material requested will help my students improve their handwriting and coloring. The flip crayons and crayon rocks are small and easy to use. The students love using them to color with. They are different and exciting. They also make small fingers strong. I LOVE flexible seating. I want to expand my learning environment by allowing students to sit in a more comfortable seat. Their learning will improve because they can now sit in a more relaxing area. I also see the different learning styles in my classroom. Sometimes 30 to 32 first graders get loud and students need a quiet working area. Earphones in the classroom will provide a calming feeling for students while still allowing them to hear the instructions, but tune out the other students. Reaching their full potentional by changing the classroom environment is the most important goal. I am excited to see them soar to new heights as I incorporate new learning tools for them to use.
