Helping Students Become VersaTile and Confident Learners of Math

My Students
Diverse is the word that best describes my school. We have Title 1 students and English Language Learners, students in the GATE centered program, as well as students with Autism/Aspergers. We have such a mix of students and each one adds their own unique flair to our school environment that it makes teaching here exciting. Needless to say, not only is each school year different, but each month, week, day, and sometimes hour.
With each child comes a different background.
Some students have a solid foundation with many supporters, while others are struggling to find their footing. One thing is certain in my classroom, they have me. I am there to encourage, guide, support, and comfort. I have their backs 100% and they know it. I will do what ever it takes to make sure they are successful.
My Project
Many of my students had a very nontraditional start to their education last year due to COVID-19. They spent a good portion of their year in preschool learning virtually. We are very fortunate that this year, as kindergartners, we have started with full-day in class instruction, and we are working on becoming actively engaged and independent learners.
My goal is to build by my students' confidence in math by teaching the math curriculum with engaging activities without the use of screens.
With the incorporation of math VersaTiles, I want to help my students build math proficiency in a challenging and reward way.
VersaTiles are a self-checking answer system that encourages students to become independent learners in a safe learning environment, while increasing their confidence and mastery of the kindergarten math standards. VersaTiles can be used independently to differentiate instruction, they can also be used in small groups, centers, or whole class. The VersaTiles classroom math set will allow me to individualize the instructional needs of my students while addressing the state and national standards with minimal prep time.
I am looking forward to seeing the engagement these VersaTiles will bring to my classroom. I know that my students will become confident and independent learners.
