This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students love reading stories over and over again! They begin to learn the storyline, about the characters and act out the story in our Library area. Each student takes on the role of a character and they retell the story and oftentimes will extend the story with a different ending. This project is for story puppets, flannel board pieces, and story puzzles that will nurture their natural love for reading.

This project for story puppets, flannel board pieces, and puzzles will encourage students to continue to visit our Library area and help develop emergent literacy skills as they retell classic stories.

We plan to use these materials during free play when students visit the Library area. That way they can choose which story to retell and follow their own interests. These materials will also be used during whole group read-alouds to engage students as they hear the story through multiple reads. Finally, the 3D puzzles will be used in small groups, so students get an opportunity to take on the roles of characters with their peers. We hope you can help support our project for literacy materials to continue to nurture our student's love for reading.
