Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Technology is a vital part in 21st century education. By supplying my students with this pad, they will experience the learning power of this cutting edge technology. With the growing education application store, the iPad is a tool with an endless supply of knowledge that my students will obtain.
I am the Art specialist in a K-5 Arts school.
We are located in one of the poorest rural areas of the state. Our families are plagued by poverty and high unemployment rates. I see about 975 students every week, from Kindergarten though grade five. All of the students receive free or reduced lunch. The student population is 95% Hispanic, 3% African American, 1% Caucasian, and 1% Asian. About 70% of the students in my room are learning English as a second language.
My Project
The uses of this iPad in my Art classroom are endless. My art class can use this tablet to create hands on artwork that can be digitally displayed or printed out. By having the iPad in my classroom my students will be able take virtual tours of museums and view artists that relate to our learning.
I am also requesting a case. The case will be used to protect the iPad from all those little accidents my kids might have.
Lastly, with the Education store at Apple, my students can view current shows in museums from around the world and listen to curators talk about each work of art. Bring the museum into our classroom without ever having to leave it.
Many of my students do not have a computer at home and Internet access.
Yet, being technology savy is very important in nearly every job in today's market. Besides using this tool to help educate my students about art, they are also becoming familiar with cutting edge technology. Using the iPad in my classroom will not only help my students succeed in my class, but prepare them for success in future jobs. ÃÂë hide
