My students need an Apple Macbook computer to help with visual references, worksheets, vocabulary, and more since they just arrived to our school from the devastation of Hurricane Maria.
My students are 5 and 6 year olds who attend a Title I school. We are a Title I school, because 90% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. My students come from low income families, where there is often only one parent working in the household. Even though my students come from a low economic environment, they are still very eager to learn. My students really need the basic essentials in life, because their parents are unable to provide these things for them.
My Project
My class has received some amazing students who suffered distress from Hurricane Maria. Many of them are ESL students which means English is not their first language. I pair them with students who speak their native language. However, my new students need more. They need visual references, worksheets, vocabulary, and access to a current computer, the Apple Macbook Computer that I requested.
They will use this computer for various websites to help with language mastery and more to be successful.
This device will also lower the stress of learning. I want my students to have access to the best technology for learning and to assist with language.
The Apple Macbook Computer will help my students. I have learned about an app called Duolingo which can be used with this device to assist with language. My students will be able to use it at the Technology Center in their room. My goal is to continue to stay current in technology trends and grow. I also want to add additional computers at the Technology Center so my students have access to additional technology.
I hope you will consider helping support this amazing project for my students in need so they can reach their highest potential.
