Helping Inner City Students Understand Hispanic Culture

My students need a classroom set of the book "Romiette and Julio" (set of 35).

MAKE ESPANOL FUN FOR EVERYONE!!!! I am currently a Spanish teacher for grades 6 - 8 at a middle school in Maryland. I am looking for creative ways to engage my students. We're a Title 1 school, so funding is limited. I think these books will serve as a great to tool for me in my classroom.

As I mentioned above, our school has very limited funds. I'm lucky enough to have a set of classroom textbooks and I would love to obtain a classroom set of this book. Many of my students are at least two grades below reading level and I think reading this book in class will not only allow them to learn more about Chicano culture, it also will help them with their reading skills.

I would love to have a classroom set of "Romiette and Julio". Besides being a fabulous book, I believe that it will allow my students to "think outside the box" and open up their eyes to a different culture. I hope that this book will help my students not only become better readers, but also better human beings.

I know that with your help, we can help change these students lives. I can see so much potential in all of my students. If I can inspire them to reach their full potential, they will be so much better off. Using this book in the classroom will be a small part of the ongoing commitment to help my students achieve their dreams.
