Helping Hands - Providing Assistance to Recently Arrived Migrant Children

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a social worker at a Title 1 predominantly Latino elementary school in San Antonio. My students may face many adversities, but that doesn't let them deter them in their path to success.
Knowing that it's never too early to encourage the importance of kindness and assisting your community as well as since a majority of my students are of Latin descent, I wanted them to be aware of and write comforting notes to migrant children.
The items donated would go to four children at our local Migrant Center. Attached to the items, would be encouraging notes or drawings from our students welcoming them to the United States.
