Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school serves a high poverty population of students. It is our hope to provide for the whole child. While we do what we can to help, our dream is to have a closet full of resources that students who need them can use.

As winter approaches, our students do not have basic jackets and socks.

Many of our students will not have heat this winter. Even when it is 40 degrees outside, they come to school in a t-shirt and shorts. They would be forever grateful to receive basic essentials that others take for granted.

My Project

Our vision is to create a closet with socks, light jackets, sweatshirts, toothbrushes, toothpaste, blankets, shirts, pants, etc. Teachers would be able to come to this closet and get the resources needed for our students. The materials being requested would allow our students to come to school and focus on learning and not worry about being out in the cold or not having a blanket at night.

The funding for this project would help get us started and allow us to create a Helping Hands Clothing Closet for students in need.

This funding would be the beginning of our closet and we hope to continue to replenish the closet through clothing drives and donations. At our school, we focus on the whole child and their life outside the classroom. Funding for this project would make a difference in the lives of many students.
